When I run "SHOW INNODB STATUS" it works but to get the results set in a better format I added the /G and the following error is returned:
Error Code : 1064
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '\G' at line 1
(0 ms taken)

/*just to clarify:*/
SHOW INNODB STATUS /* does work */

SHOW INNODB STATUS\G /* does not work */

Am I doing something wrong?

\G is a special command supported by the MySQL command line utility.

Its not a valid SQL statement and thus the error.
