Thank you so much for clarifying!! I noticed that the application appeared to keep working regardless of the Not Responding message, so this makes sense. It looks like all my troubles will be resolved when SQLMax comes out! Keep me posted as to when there is an ETA for it!!!

It happens after the very last page of the wizard, where it says “Completing ODBC Import Wizard”. I hit “Run Immediately”, and the blue bar begins to move, as if it is working. Then it stops. Originally, I figured that the database must be quite large, and that it is taking some time to run the whole process. But one day it had been an inordinate amount of time, so I went into Task Manager and saw that it was “Not Responding”. I am asking the wizard to delete the rows in the destination table before re-adding the data, which I also realize may take time. But what I can't figure out is why it freezes, and takes nearly an hour to unfreeze (I timed it yesterday; it took nearly an hour).

I've also noticed that while the upload is running, you cannot do anything else on the server. Doing so will cause the upload to stay frozen longer.

Also, there are times when I cannot access the server directly, so I use VNC to run the wizard. This has seemed to fail almost without exception.

Unfortunately, until SQLyog comes out with the newest release which allows for non-MySQL databases to be included in automation, I will have to continue manually running this process every day, twice a day, to import the neccessary data onto our website.

By the way, I've noticed that the attachment didn't go thru… I'll try attaching it again.

Thanks for the tips. We do have the latest MySQL ODBC driver loaded; I use the ODBC import wizard that comes with SQLyog, and it works just fine. The issue is that I still have to manually come in and transform the tables every morning. That is why I want to write a script that automates this process, so that I don't have to do it every morning!

If I write a script, will I be able to manipulate the data transfer the same way the ODBC import wizard does currently? What I mean is, right now I have to select the tables I want to import, then transform them so that the rows are deleted from the destination tables. The ODBC import wizard takes care of this, it's just I have to go through and tansform every table I want to upload, and then run the process. I've attached a screenshot of what I mean, in case you are not familiar with the ODBC import wizard.

    I appreciate everyone's help… calling India for technical support isn't exactly easy…

Thanks for the info. I know that SQLyog just had an upgrade, but is there any e.t.a. on when SQLMax will be available?

In the meantime, I've been advised to try to create a VB script to automate it myself. Has anybody tried that, and if so were you successful? Any advice on this process would be welcome, since I am new to VB.

I just found this post, although I have just asked a similar question in another forum. So is this information accurate as of Nov. 3? There is no way to automate an ODBC import from MSSQL into MySQL using SQLyog?

Thank you for responding to my query! I am not positive, but I think someone here tried to write a script, and it didn't work for some reason. What I do know is that when my boss agreed to purchase this tool, he was told that the next release of SQLyog would include an automation feature. He wasn't given a time frame, however, so I suppose it's possible that this is something that won't be happening for some time. Do you have a PHP script that has worked for you? We do have staff here that know PHP, but perhaps there was someting missing that they couldn't work out. I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction, but I know that script-writing can be quite a process so I appreciate if you don't just want to hand over something that you worked very hard on. To be honest, I'm new to MySQL and PHP, and this is my first small project with it.
