MemberYou are selecting the wrong DSN.
You have to create a File or System DSN to the Excel worksheet using Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Data Sources (ODBC) and then select the DSN in SQLyog ODBC Import Wizard.

Membermy.cnf is a MySQL configuration file. SQLyog never uses it.
From the MySQL Docs:

MemberCreate a new user using Tools->User Manager->Add User . Keep all the privileges unchecked as of now.
Using Tools->User Manager->Manage Permissions provide all privileges to the specified database.

MemberWe were able to import the database without any problem using the ODBC Import Wizard. We have Office XP and SQLyog 3.64.
Is SQLyog crashing when you are importing empty table(s)?
Which version of MySQL are you using?
