We cannot have a “backdated 'processlist' output”. That would require the processlist page was running always and data stored. You would need huge amounts of storage.

I am not sure if the general log has information about the client ip? Do you know? Parsing the log for this information would be the only chance.

But all users using a PHP application running on the server (like this Forums) for instance will connect to MySQL from localhost. MySQL does not know what is the ip/host of the user. This would require simultaneous analysis of webserver log and MySQL log, I believe (and will probably never be accurate anyway).

Ok, No the general query log does not have information about the IP, nor the binlog output parsed through mysqlbinlog utility. Most of our connections are from outside IPs, so i could have used any historical info (if it was there somewhere in the data retained by monyog) to see from whom that connection originated.

i would appreciate any other ideas.

I am not sure I understand,

Have you deleted the server from the registration page or changed those connection details? In such case the details are not stored any more. If you delete the server all data for this server will be deleted from the MONyog database too.

However if you only deselected the server you can just select again (there is a setting where you decide if data shall be collected from a deselected server or not). But then you will need a license for all servers you want to have registered.

No, the registration has not been changed, nor the connection details. I need to find the IP address of a connection from a certain date. I do have the connection-id and the time stamp when this connection was made from the general-query log. But as this was a while back(but after the date listed under 'monyog data retained since') i was thinking that we might get this info from monyog. something like a backdated 'show processlist' output.

We are working on a better implementation. Can you tell what you would find reasonable / what you need? Will 'last occurrance of the query' do ?

Or do you require a complete list of all occurrances? or even a graphical display of the distribution in time (like in history/trends)??

I would ideally like to see summerized output (something that is different from opening the log using vi editor) like statement text, count of how many times this statement was run, and the last time stamp when this statement was run.

I understand after selecting a small chunk size it finishes in resonabel time. Please correct me if I am worng!

Isn't there a 'show details' link? It will display timestamp for last occurance of the query (I think .. right now I am out of town and don't use my own computer)

Yes, it did finish in a resonable time after limiting the size.

No, I dont see any 'show details' link.

Yes, you can either specify Last “x” bytes/KB/MB or All if you choose to scan the entire file.

Are you using the default value (Last 1 M:cool:?

I guess i was using ALL. How can i view the time stamp in the log output. It just shows 2 columns (count and query) only?

will it be a new feature request?

How big a chunk size have you selected?

The chunk size defines how much is transferred from the server, the MB setting has effect only after the log chunck was transferred.

Can you monitor your network traffic and see what is happing here? Are data being transferrred?

where do i set the log chunk size? is it the reading limit – read last/all?

How long did you wait before giving up on the big file? Are you sure that it was hanging and not taking the usual time to transfer 100MB over SFTP?

Should be around 20 minutes before i clossed the page. It was just showing the message 'analyzing, this may take a few minutes'. I did have the filter set to 'today'. Does monyog read the entire contents, bring it to the local monyog engine and then filter the data?

MONyog Log Analyzer is designed to work with very large files, so I am surprised to see that file size was the problem.

Did you try with a new (smaller) file or you changed the MONyog parameters to parse just 100MB of a bigger file?

How are you accessing the remote file? Are you accessing the file over SSH/SFTP?

I tried with a new smaller file, but never changed any of the MONyog parameters. I'm accessing the remote file via SSH.

    Please tell us,

    1. OS of the host where MONyog is running?

    2. Are you Analyzing remote or local MySQL server ? if remote server is it within LAN?

    3. In Log Analyzer setting –General log settings — What does Test path shows ?

    Also,

    4. Can you attach a sample log file (zip and attach)? you can remove sensitive data if you want.

    Thanks

Got it to work, just had to use a smaller log file. The one that i tried earlier was more than 100MB. Monyog was run from a windows host monitoring a remote MySQL server within LAN.

You can find it in Tools — Customize — On Left Side there are Labels(File Names) — Select Schema Changes -01.

Here Just before Alert Condition :function() , add the text as Mail Alert : “Yes”, and then Click On Save Changes button.

    (see the screenshot)

Ok, i'm getting alerts now. Thanks

    HI,

To get mail Alert for Schema Changes– Object Changes Detected.

Paste this “MailAlert : “Yes”,” In Tools — Customize — Schema changes 01.js file. And save it.

Please see the screenshot attached below

I did make the change and saved it. Now when i go to monitors/advisors nothing shows up in this list, it is totally blank, all the existing advisors seems to have disappeared. Any thoughts ?
