    thanks Supratik

ive checked item 1 and 2 and all fine ie can ping and also can navigate the 10.0.0.224 computer using windows from the desktop. also have checked (item 2) that the mysql port is open on the laptop win xp firewall.

i dont know how to allow mysql priveledge you mention in item 3 below. can i do this via sqlyog or via xampp control panel – if so how. or do i need to go into actual mysql config file … and again … if so … how do i do it. i dont understand where you enter the “username@%” you have mentioned below

    thx again for your help

“”3. Please make sure that the MySQL user is having priviledge to connect from any other IP apart from localhost.

You may create a user as “username@%” this will allow you to connect from any IP.””

im using latest sqlyog ie enterprise 6.5.6 and a very recent version of mysql (installed with recent version of xampp). dont think this should be causing any problem though. i would think that it is more a generic problem of “how to import dates from csv to mysql”??

Timeframe estimate for 6.2 beta1 is 1-2 weeks.

    peter, 2 things

    1. would you suggest it is advisable for me to download and start using 6.2 beta (and replace my current version 6.15) to be able to use this functionality (ie resize, print schema designer etc) or is safer to wait till the new version is out and tested for a while.

    2. another bug (or possibly my incorrect use) is that in schema designer – despite continually resizing the display size of a table so i can see all fields within it, each time i change the structure of any table or make any change that requires a refresh of the screen, the table resizing doesnt stick and reverts back to original size. any suggestions
