      Hello,

I have been using SQL Yog since few years to synchronize data between my local pc and my website hosted by a provider and I'm satisfied of your product. I like to try MOnyog, but I do not know how to install this on a distant server where I have no access except ftp. sorry but I'm not a specialist either…

      Thanks in advance

      Georges / Paris

How do you connect to MySQL from SQLyog? Direct/SSH Tunnel/HTTP Tunnel?

If you are using common cheap shared hosting you will not be allowed to install on the server.

Also here MONyog will not give you much information that you can use, as MONyog reports counters and gives advisors for server configuration for the SERVER .. not for the USER.

To try out MONyog it would be a better idea I think to install a MySQL server as well as MONyog locally

      Hello,

I use direct connection when I use SQLyog. So I understand that It cannot help much on the distant server. I will then try to install on my local server at least it can inform me of the status/performance of sql querry

      Thanks anyway for the reply

      to clarify:

      MONyog will give you:

      1) information that will help you to configure the server. With 'shared' hosting server configuration is not a option for users (unles it is a 'dedicated' server or a 'virtualized' server). Also problems – for instance a high rate of 'full table scans' will be for the complete server – and if 100 users share one server it will not be much use for a single user to know the issues of all users.

      2) information that will help you improve your queries. That part of it will normally work – but may even as well be tested on a local server.
