…
One developer has been assigned with this and – I would guess – around 20-30 – similar small but important usability issues that will take each around 4-16 hours to complete.
Great news! Wish those issues would include
ESC for cancelling data edit in result or data browser
INS (SPACE maybe?) to place a checkmark on row for multidelete later (same as you click leftmost checkbox with mouse)
DEL to delete the current (hightlighted already? 🙂 row or those rows selected with checkboxes
Also i would like to remind something i already suggested while in BLOB/TEXT editor
if there is no data (it is NULL) pressing SPACE (or, even better, any char key) disables 'set to null' and focus the editor (now pressing SPACE acts like pressing on 'SAVE TO FILE' which in turn brings a 'Cannot write NULL value'. i think this button can be easily disabled when “data” is NULL).
And finally i would like to ask you to make changes to connection manager
if i save connection without username and password next time i am opening connection manager i get a password field focused but i think most people first enter username and then password.
also here it is not possible to disable 'save password' checkbox. ok, you can disable, but you can not SAVE it.
And finally finally THANK YOU for great product. It is now the only tool keeping me from migrating to MacOS completely.

Sorry, forgot to mention the ver. 6.54 that is. hardware is an old Trydent Cyber-XP4 with 6.4823 drivers. Running in 32bit color. No updates are available since this is a quite old notebook hardware.
BTW: I've recently upgraded from 6.51 where there was no such thing.
jd wuz hereMemberpeterlaursen wrote on Mar 24 2008, 01:17 PM:did you ever hear about a WHERE-clause … 🙂what is that?
well, if we here were upto working only with where's we would not need anything besides /usr/bin/mysql/bin/mysq 🙂
jd wuz hereMemberPeter, how about more usablitiy to this window?
Like, if i place mouse cursor to the text entry field the SQLyog automagically unchecs “set to null”? Right now to add some data i have to first uncheck the box and then go to typing. You can save me that one extra click 🙂
THANX!

jd wuz hereMemberpeterlaursen wrote on Mar 2 2008, 12:28 PM:1) agreed. This dialogue should (as well as others) be resizable and non-modal (means it should be possible to work in main window even if this is open2) sorting. Not sure – one problem: You know that we plan to move 'code exectution' to 'manage indexes' dialogue (and not the 'subdialogue') to ensure that we execute a single ALTER TABLE only. Actually sorting indexes creates a new table definition!
3) multiselect. I think it will less important once we execute all changes in one ALTER TABLE only. But anyway let us discuss this.
4) All over the program we will check with the caption 'Cancel' that it only appears where 1) nothing has happened yet 2) performed actions can be reversed.
1. not sure that i will need to execute queries while indexes are updated (which takes long and locks tables), so i think modality should be left alone, but resizability will surely help.
2. Isn't only sorting fields within index altering tables? What i am talking about is just a visibility option, only to compare indexes.
3. I don't know yet how do you plan on implementing this, but multiselecting all indexes to delete and pressing one button to me seem simpliest. However, the choice is yours – you might find a better way.
4. Great! I think that “Close” is a nice option even when nothing has happened yet and “Cancel” should be left only for reversable actions.
jd wuz hereMemberpity we'll have to wait alot before 6.2 being released..
jd wuz hereMembernot to forget about connection rename possibility.
and i am stillpatiently waiting for that fix – http://www.webyog.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=3703
THANK YOU 🙂
jd wuz hereMemberWhy not having a favorite folder for connection? Moving to DB will surely slow things down, right?
performance is not (yet) a question here, but having lots of servers makes list a mess, even if each favorite is prefixed with a servername.
jd wuz hereMemberrecently released 6.15 does not fix this 🙁

i again have to stick with 5.23 for a little while and search for a better devs, who can find differences in their two products “to reproduce” 😡 i am really-really upset, after i told so many friends to use your Yog, you throw me away without asking for more details, test accounts, etc. you just don't give a shit and that dissapoints.
peterlaursen wrote on Nov 7 2007, 12:34 PM:OK .. I'll summarize. You reported two issues1) client charset gets lost after inactivity (this is a recent 64 bit Linux server)
We cannot reproduce. Can you on other servers? This may be a server bug!
2) 'server gone away' .. this may be a connection/firewall/OS issue and not a MySQL or SQLyog issue.
We cannot reproduce either of those issues. Not after 'playing around' with 'interactive timeout' either.
Please tell how you connect – direct, SSH, HTTP? I would not be surprised if the 2nd issue is SSH-related!

I've tryed that and.. it worked fine.
that is:
/*[22:08:56][ 50 ms]*/ update `tags` set `id`='860',`ru_text`='Awards',`en_text`='',`bad`='1' where `id`='860'
/*[22:22:12][ 50 ms]*/ update `tags` set `id`='870',`ru_text`='LOST',`en_text`='',`bad`='1' where `id`='870'
and i made no single keypress in between two edits.
This setup is
version 4.0.27-standard-log
version_comment Official MySQL-standard binary
version_compile_os pc-linux-gnu
connect_timeout 240
delayed_insert_timeout 300
interactive_timeout 1000
wait_timeout 90
Also, do you have any news regarding my initial (a different one!) question as of Nov 1 2007, 12:57 AM?
November 5, 2007 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Wrong Character Set After "interactive_timeout" Expires (i G #25216jd wuz hereMemberalso..
on my second server, which is 4.0.27-standard-log on Linux 2.6.11.4-21.15-smp #1 SMP Tue Nov 28 13:39:58 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
i have interactive_timeout set to a value of 1000, but when i manually do a complex edit to any field in any DB with SQLyog 6.11, which takes some time, i get an error “mysql server has gone away” and all my edits are lost then. i have to reconnect (by pressing F5) and only then i can paste the data i used to enter before without reconnecting. This never happened with SQLyog 5.23 (i guess it just reconnect when sees mysql gone and reecutes query again).

As far as I remember this was an early 4.1 or 5.0 server build.
It is public holiday in India today, so only tomorrow we will be able to look into this.
it is

congrats on your holiday 🙂 waiting to hear back from you soon, thanx!

But we actually are (or should be) using the same function whenever reconnecting. We have one example where the server 'forgot' the client and connection charsets setting after some time of inactivity. That one was a server issue!
What is the exact server and SQLyog versions that you are using?
MySQL 5.0.45-log x86_64
SQLyog 6.11 (it happened with 6.07 also)
and what was the server issue you mention? so i could check that, too.
