hi to everybody,
i decide to write here for say what i would to have in next new version of sqlyog.
i use all the day mysql and i use many editors….
yog is going very good, often we can have news, but i would to have something like this:
drag and drop from right-list-table and database adn fileds in the editor (it s very great!!) (by opriona u can choose copy the name of filed and tipy-dimention or only copy the name by d&D),
and a optiona autocomplit of special key or table-database-name (optiona if u want both or only one of them).
i would to have faster table-data and possibility move order fields if i want change point of view.
i woluld to have a molti-tab of editors…when u write so hard, it s better that open every time a new yog!
better copy and past data from table-result and table data to editor.
after:
do this “show table status” it must be possible to copy the result in the editor and choose which field u want to copy (only for mysql show command)
and when u copy everystuff u every record in the result must be one row in the editor…..not automaticatly follow the size……editor must have a row estension size.
where there is NULL in the greed i would have a differnt color.
that s enougth by now,
i hope u like.
bye bye

ADD ALSO A PROCESS LIST LIKE A NEW TASK NEAR HISTORY THAT U CAN REFRESH WITHOUT RE-CALL PROCESS LIST EVERY TIME, MAYBE A INTERVAL TIME READ OPTION!
CIAO AGAIN!

It an answer to your last question only.
Sqlyoug does not analyse the coe. it lets the MySQL server do that.
And I agree theat the error messages from the MySQL server are somewhat annoying.
” You got an error … check the documentation”
It's more than ten years ago that I worked wit software development. And even the any Paxcal compiler or Basic Interpreter would give much better help than the MySQL server does today.
I think we should blam MySQL not Sqlyog.
But We can tell them at MySQL:
********************************************************************************
******************
WE WANT THE INTERPRETER ON THE SERVER TO GIVE ERROR MESSAGES THAT WILL GUIDE US TO F-I-N-D THAT SYNTAX ERROR!
Hvis ni inte förstår det, får ni inte mera kjøbe sprit i Danmark!
********************************************************************************
*******************
(last line is (some kind of) Swedish and means : If you don't understand it, we won't let you buy alcohol in Denmark anymore!)
… and then they will have to distill it from shoe polish again as they did 30 years ago!

I'm afraid that I don't quite understand your last question. If you mean other programs/clients/applications, then sqlyog is the only one that I know well. With “MySQL administrator” it suffices my needs. I think you must pay about 5 times as much for a program that has more to offer than sqlyog. (referring to the Enterprise-version).
There are some of your suggestions that I can follow, some I can't, and there are workarounds for others.
I'd would like to see the graphical standard of the program develop (more intuitve coloring, icons, popups, hints etc). And more user settings. I don't need drag'n'drop (but on the other hand wouldn't mind). Not so much because it might take quite a lot of code. ( funny enough it is a MUST among DBA's that the their tools be 'leighweight' (I know know why – some adminiser DB's in the TB-range, and yet they think an tool is a catastrophy it it takes more than 10 MB 🙂 ) Rather more Quality (error-prone releases) than quantity. Security is more important than smartness with a DBA tool.
I also would like so se functionality for administering the new facilities with MySQL ver.5 (Stored Procedures, Triggers and Views) develop rapidly.
One hint for you: To have more editors, you can open more connections!

What I meant
One hint for you: To have more editors, you can open more more instances of sqlyog.

thank s peterlaursen,
i can understend your point of view about secuty and “big dimension”. i belive so little implementations were not so 'hard' and difficals.
about a editors it s like this:
if u open a other connection it's can be because u want a other different connercion (istans connection),
but if u work in the same connection(same database) and u need a other tab-editor, to have a other connection it s not the best way.
sure it can be like this, but often it s happen to me to 'save' big sql-text or copy a result set in other query not in the same text-editor. I belive this is not a 'dimensional or security problem', it s a simply way for work better.
About process list refreshable, i hope u condider.
thak a lot.

great anwerts! i explain to u some black points…
QUOTE
1-i would to have faster table-data and possibility move order fields if i want change point of view.
I am not sure what you mean by the above feature. Can you explain it a little more?
ok, when u query a table u have a table with results, often happen that u want move the sequence of fields for very fast
confront. i know that u can change by sql instruction, but if u have a more join sequence or too much fields or u want chanche the position of fields only for visual but not in the table order, it s help very much. it must be work in result or 'table' tabulation.
2-better copy and past data from table-result and table data to editor.
v4.05 FINAL has a greatly improved copy-paste feature.
that s good, it s be possible have a keyboard shorcut?
3-do this “show table status” it must be possible to copy the result in the editor and choose which field u want to copy (only for mysql show command)
this is only say that it be better have a format results from the command 'show' like u have from a normal result query (u can use cut-copy and all advantage that u have for normal query)
4-MISSING and very important
Dinamic “process list”: when u want to see process list, it would to be refresh the process if u want and not open again the window.
5-Colums selection in the editor will be great!
thank u very much.
