      I found that by having the McAfee VShield running, every visit to the Connect dialog takes 15 seconds. Disabiling the active virus checking reduces this time to near instantaneous, however turning off virus checking every time I want to work on a database isn't an acceptable option for me.

      I prefer SQLyog to MySQL CC (SQLyog seems to be much more stable and friendlier), however I also need virus checking active.

      Does anyone have a recommendation for getting the best of both worlds (sqlyog + mcafee)?

      Have you tried turning off just certain options in McAfee instead of shutting it all down? I'm guessing it's got something that is either monitoring all disk activity or all network activity that is choking it down. (Just a guess)
