I have been using Sqlyog successfully for some time. Recently I upgraded to v5. I am currently using v5.19 Enterprise (Single user). I connect to my databases via ssh tunnel. Connect is successful.
I can execute some commands but on others Sqlyog locks up. For instance.
I can execute a small query and it returns successfully. If it is a large result set (large is relative, I have not been able to pin down size) Sqlyog greys out the left panel and just sits there no matter how long I wait. I try to use the little red Stop Execution button but nothing happens.
If I try to do a alter database command I get the same result.
The only way to recover is to kill Sqlyog or to kill the two plink.exe processes, disconnecting from the database.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. No joy.
QLR is now essentially non-functional.
Help.

Please first try version 5.2 and see if problem persists.
BTW: Are you using HTTP-tunnel?

oops …
I mistook your question with another. You are using SSH-tunnel of course.
Still please version 5.2.
Also you could restart the server and/or SSH if possible.

Okay, apparently I am not elegible to download 5.2. So I downloaded the trial. Unfortunately the trial period has expired. So I had to drop back to 5.19.
SSH restarted. Cannot restart server without interrupting users.
The problem persists.
I just tried it with http tunneling and it works.
Tried it by installing on another laptop I have and ssh does not work. Server is running openssh.

Please give us a little time to discuss what change in between 5.19 and 5.2 could do that.
As said there is no INTENTIONAL change.
But please detail this:
“I connect to my databases via ssh tunnel. Connect is successful.”
Can you connect to the SERVER but not the DATABASES, or is it 'test connection' that reports OK?

I can connect to the server. I can connect to any of the databases on the server. I can connect to other servers and the databases there. I can do operations on the database as long as they are limited in scope. If I execute a larger query sqlyog greys out and just sits there. If I try to right click and do alter database the same thing happens.
It is not server or database dependant. I can make it happen on any server/database.

I think you told it happened on certain servers only. Can you detail?
What is the server version?
Could it be this server bug: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=19588?
(I do not know how effective the patch is!)
