Ever since SQLyog 4.0 Beta 2 whenever i open up sqlyog and then click on 'connect' it crashes. Is there a dll i need to update or ? I have tried reinstall, uninstall, reinstall, nothing seems to get it working.
Any help would be appreciated! 😕

This is strange.
Can you check and tell me the files that are present in the SQLyog installation directory? A screenshot of the folder will be best.
Which OS are you using?
Information about the connection type you are using will also be helpful.

Ritesh,
It is very strange, and i thought that with every beta release it would be fixed but never did!

I am using a standard connection, no tunnel, no ssh, just connecting to the database at port 3306, when i click test connection that works, it is just after i press Connect right before the MDI window is suppose to come up it crashes. 😮

The screenshot looks good.
Which version of MySQL are you using?
At our end we are testing SQLyog with MySQL versions – 3.23.54, 4.0.18, 4.1.5, 4.1.7 and 5.0 without any problem. Is it possible to get temporary access to the MySQL server? We can try connecting from our end and fix the bug (if there are any).
The bug has not been fixed yet because nobody reported similar issue before this 🙁

BTW, what is the SQLyog folder for? We dont create any folder by the name of SQLyog. Only Personal folder gets created by the installer.

Ritesh,
I am using mySQL version 4.0.16-standard. I have tried connection to other mysql servers and still no go, let me know if i should try a mysql server i can connect to that you know it works with.
Also that SQLyog folder, i honestly don't know how it got there, there is nothing in it.
Let me know, Thanks.
UPDATE
I have tried this on six different mysql servers and it crashes everytime. 😮 It is something with a dll and my computer, i am sure. My laptop runs the beta version just fine and does not crash, using the same database. what should i do? 😮

I hope you are using SQLyog 4.0 BETA 6 in your laptop.
From your answer it looks like that there is a conflict of libmysql.dll. 🙁
Please search for libmysql.dll in your computer and delete all instances of libmysql.dll except the one in the SQLyog installation folder.

No need to delete the other libmysql.dlls, just make sure that the one in the installation folder is the only registered. If you have a running winmysqladmin, then stop it before editing registry entries if libmysql.dll! Winmysqladmin may load an older version of libmysql.dll which may crash SQLyog.

I looked at all the libmysql.dll files i have, and i do have a lot, however i don't have winmysql and libmysql isn't even registered in my system. Each application just pull is it out of its directory. What I do have installed is the Mysql Driver/ODBC connector but I have the latest version.
Why doesn't the SQLyog installer attempt to register the DLL or does it?
I still have no luck, and doesn't work. Laptop works fine with latest version, and i do have the odbc connector on the laptop as well.
