Currently in SQLyog's backup function you can use the “Scheduled Backups” function to make a SQL dump of your database. You can enable the following two options:
- Compress (zip) backup files
- Separate file for each object
Unfortunatley with both of these options are enabled I find that I am unable to easily restore the files created by the SQLyog backup. In order to restore a database I am required to extract the ZIP file manually, and then, because I selected “Separate file for each object” I need to execute each and every SQL file in the archive individually.
The ability to be able to backup each individual object separately into a ZIP archive is something of high value to me, but in its current state it is not practical to take advantage of this option because restoring the data would become a labourous chore.
Would it be possible to:
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: When using the “Separate file for each object” option, can I simply point SQLyog to a folder where the backup SQL files are stored and have it intellegently restore the files?
- Restore a backup directly from a compressed ZIP archive without being required to extract its contents?
Thanks
