Linux = No Ssh?

This might be a hashed subject, but as I'm a new SQLYog customer I thought I'd bring this up.

I used the GUI to setup a syncronization xml file. I used local ssh tunneling via putty so that the xml file would act the same on the linux host the job was destined for.

I get everything setup, then run it via sja on the remote linux system and get:

For one, this is a really goofy thing for linux NOT to support.

2, I didn't see this on any of the pages describing SQLYog, that one of the most important features of syncronization isn't available under linux.

Yes, I know I could have demo'd it, but I didn't test it under linux since I figured if you could make it work on windows, it would work under linux.

Is this a common rant among sqlyog customers? Am I alone in this? Are there any plans to support this?

I have to agree that this was a big disappointment for me to find out that sja version for Linux did not support ssh. I definitely would have purchased the product for that one attribute alone. The product is solid otherwise, but it doesn't solve my problem.

No he is not alone in this. I am looking for a tool to do database sync for a multinational but without tunneling on the linux agent this product is of absolutely no use.

Not only ssh but http tunelling is not supported. If I can connect to both databases directly I dont need this product (Mysql has replication) its for just this one local and one hosted database via tunnel that I would need it.

Please move this to the top of the list or maybe put the linux code and the http tunneling protocol in the public domain and let someone finish it for you

Please dont just sit on Windows. Windows is fine for clients but very expensive as a server solution for database sync!

I don't understand. You can sync two unixserver from a client running on windows.

MySQL has replication. Yes but you can't use unless the two servers are your own. In a “shared environment” such as an ISP you will have to find some other way!

As Peter suggested, you can install SJA on a Windows machine and sync two MySQL servers running on any OS.

I have to agree with mutant.

We would have to *buy* a windows

machine just to use the SSH feature.

We would love to use it on Linux.

You can use SQLyog Enteprise including the SJA for Windows with WINE:

attached picture shows sja for windows running under wine WITH SSH TUNNELLING to the remote host

So you won't have to buy a Windows machine or a Windows OS.

Just buy SQLyog Enterprise! 😀
