      Hi all,

I am new to this stuff as well as new to Oracle SQL. Basically I just installed Oracle Personal edition 9.0.1. I run “SQL Plus” on my personal computer using the default username: “scott” and password: “tiger”; I named the database “Personal”

So how do I use SQLyog to log into my personal computer and use it?

I ran Oracle “Enterprise Manager Console” and it says my local database is called : “Personal”, host:”g105-06″ (name of my comp) and port: “1521”

I entered these data in the SQLyog logon screen but it doesn't work.

Sorry, but I hope you can understand what I mean. Basically I don't have no server/client or anything like that. I run SQL Plus 9.0.1 on my personal computer and just want to run SQLyog for educational purposes, can anyone assist? Thanx

SORRY but SQLyog does not work with Oracle. It is a front end tool for MySQL. You can try Orafaq for more information.

      Hi thanx for that.

Oh I am new to this and had no idea there are so many different SQL's.

I am currently learning Oracle SQL at school, but I've never heard of mysql.

I am looking for a front end to oracle….if only there's a program as good as SQLyog.

      cheers,

      Hey Monopsi

You can get the free version of TOAD at http://www.toadsoft.com/. It is a great development tool for Oracle. You can find others if you search google or some of the oracle sites.
