im sure most of you have heard of this PLENTY of times…. but i have looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find help. so i said… why not try this.

    im getting this…

    Error No. 2003

Can't connect to MySQL server on '*******' (10060)

I'm trying to connect to my friends database server.

He has ports 3306, and 80 open. I have tried both….

i put in all my information correctly and still no change….

i have even turned off my virus and firewall protection, as well as himself…

still no change. i have also tried with 'Use Compression Protocol' checked and unchecked.

I get the same error every time. Please help.

    Thank you.

haven't tried that but i also found other people with the same problem on this forum. So i'm going to try the things you suggested there.

The MySQL server installed on your friends server could be listening to localhost instead of the outgoing IP. You can change the `bind-address` in your my.cfg file.
