I am using the scheduling feature for the first time in SQLyog Ultimate v8.2. EVERY time the scheduled task runs, I receive this error: Error opening export file for dump. Make sure the file or directory exists.
Both the file and directory DO exist.
Any ideas what is causing this?
Thanks,
–Kevin
My computer: Vista 64 Ultimate
PS ~ I was not able to search these forums for the error, as the search function here generates its own error that the words I am searching for are all under 4 characters.

Please try to specify a file that does not exist and and folder that does. You cannot append to an existing file. To avoid this you may use the option to add a timestamp to the file name.
It looks like a bad error message simply.

I had tried what you recommended prior to your post. Initially, I had selected an existing folder and did not have the target file present – same results. Not sure why it won't work.

Hi Kevin,
We tried the same case using SQLyog Ultimate v8.2 but the issue was not reproducible. Can you please try to do the following?
Once you come to How do you want to generate the window? screen please click on the browse button that you see there.(shown in the screen shot file_selection.png)
This opens up another window where you can select the location where you want the file to be created. After selecting the location, specify the file name in the space provided.(shown in screen shot Specifying_File_Name)
The extension of the file needs to be .SQL itself as specified in the drop down next to the file name.
Could you please try a different location and check if it is working fine for you?
If you still face issues then please report to us.
Thank you,
Aparna.

Aparna – thanks for the reply. I created a simple folder in the root of C: and setup the scheduler again using that folder – and IT WORKED! I'll do some work to figure out why it didn't like the folder name I had chosen before – but at least now I have something that works.
Thanks again!
