      I'm a web developer but am getting into creating stand alone apps for my clients. My app (using mdm software) utilizes mysql but I need my end-users to read and write to records to a db on their local machine which is not connected to the net. Do I simply burn the mysql setup.exe file on the disk (along with my app) and give it to them to download? Please help!

      From a technical standpoint, yes you can do that.

      From a legal standpoint, of course you can't do that.

      IANAL! (and I'm paraphrasing here)

      MySQL's license states something to the effect that you can use MySQL in a application but you cannot distribute MySQL with your application without a license. If you are serious about your application then you need to contact MySQL and negotiate a distribution license.
