      Hello,

Is it possible to configure the schema synchronization to be character set agnostic? The two databases I compare use latin1_swedish_ci and utf8_general_ci. This makes it very hard to figure out the “real” differences between both databases.

I am sorry but there are no such configuration options.  And e are a little inconsistent here actually as Data Sync ignores charset differences – refer:

What prevents you to change one of the databases to same as the other 'once and for all' ?

Thank you for the quick response.

Maybe you can forward this as a feature request to the dev guys.

I cannot change the schemas because the source is a live site I'd better not touch and the other is a dev version that should stay in utf8. I'll take the extra step to export/import the source to a temp database.

Hopefully we will have 8.7 GA out by end of next week or beginning of next week again – so that we can start thinking about what's enxt.  We have a few more similar requests to Schema Sync  I think. Let us see.  For the next week I cannot promise anything – only that I will update here again (and should I forget just post again after 1-2 weeks).

The request was there already. http://code.google.com/p/sqlyog/issues/detail?id=847

I have added a reference to this Forums post.

      Thank you.

I'll keep a eye on the changelogs 😉
