      Is there a setting for how big I want my tabs to be in the sqlyog query editor, they're HUGE!

      No there is not …

      .. but that feature has been requested frequently lately.

      it is on the 'nearby TODO list' …

      We can implement this in the 5.16 tree. Most likely in next beta. Keep an eye on the 'News' section of this Forums for announcement.
