I recently downloaded SQLYog Free and it worked great. From my desktop inside my firewall I could access my intranet's mySQL server, and one on the web. So I bought the Enterprise version and installed it.

And it doesn't work. I cannot connect to any other server. Not even the one on the same system that houses SQLYog Pro.

SqlYog Free is still on my system and it still works (i.e. both are installed on this system).

      My error is

Error No. 2003 (cannot connect to mySQL Server on domainnamehere (10061)

Whats the problem? Can I not have Free and Enterprise installed at the same time?

Indeed you can have both the versions installed on the same system at the same time.

Are you sure you are providing the correct and same connection info for both the versions? The error seems to be that you are not providing the correct host/domain name.

Can you disable your firewall and try once again?

I'm sorry I failed to say earlier that the first thing I did was disable the firewall. And then I checked the Windows Process list to make absolutely sure it was gone.

And yes I'm afraid I am absolutely sure that I am proviiding the same connection info. I have made repeated attmepts and used cut/paste between both versions to ensure no possibility of typographic errors. I have three servers available, and it cannot even connect to

      server: localhost

      username: root

      password: [blank]

However the free version of sqlYog has no problems with the above connection as well as the other two. Further, the 'localhost' connection has no network or firewall issues… its all the same system.

Intranet Server is Win2k3 Standard Server. Desktop is win2k Pro and web server is win2k Server

This is strange. We have never come across an issue like this.

Can you do one thing? Copy the sqlyog.ini from the installation directory of FREE version and copy it to the installation version of Enterprise edition. Does that work?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. I found at least the cause of the problem, although I'm still stuck in some respects (I can install to a fresh machine and it works, but its the wrong machine):

I installed Pro over top of Free (i.e. into the same directory on my workstation). This had the effect of not affecting Lite at all (a surprise) and rendering Pro inoperable only in the sense that it runs but cannot connect to anything.

So I uninstalled both, and then reinstalled Pro. Same problem with Pro: Works but cannot connect, even to localhost.

So how do I solve this? i.e. how do I render my workstation capable of running SQLYog again? I noticed on the reinstall that I did not have to register again, so the uninstall is not completely 'clean' in this circumstance. I first uninstalled Free, then Pro. Then figuring maybe something was left behind thanks to the above I installed Pro, then uninstalled, then reinstalled. Still no registration prompt, so the uninstall is not apparently a clean one.

I suggest accounting for this possibility in your installer. Its not uncommon behavior for a system to detect existing installs of itself and to deal with same accordingly.

Also your installer shows errors but doesn't give any sort of way to display them so they can be read. They just zip by onscreen and then the window closes. All I know is there were errors on the install as I saw that word fly past but I couldn't read details. There's no install.log that I can see.

Nothing further? I need to do a fully clean uninstall to be able to install Pro. See previous post.

Without having explicit knowledge of SQLyog's installer's process, a registry cleaner and traversal of the local drive that you installed it to should do the trick.

Locate where you installed SQLyog (mine is at C:Program FilesSQLyog) AFTER doing the uninstall. If the directory is gone, then all you really have to worry about now are registry keys (as DLLs are safer to leave on the system than remove anyway). If not, just delete the folder.

Many people suggest CCleaner as it's extremely powerful (and free). I use TweakNow Registry Cleaner. Either should work just fine, and TweakNow has a free version as well.

Running one of these programs and clearing out your registry should “clean” any remaining registry entries that aren't needed by your system anylonger. Always be careful when messing with the registry though, it's usually a good idea to create a backup before removing anything, just in case.

      Getting back on the subject:

      – Did you do as Ritesh suggested? Did you copy the sqlyog.ini file from the install of the FREE version to the install directory of the PRO version BEFORE uninstalling?
