  I have my Ip in the access list of the mysql server i am trying to connect to. When I do try to connect I get error 1024 – bad handshake. What am I missing? The server has opened 3306 port.
  
  I have another myswl server which I can connect without any problem but they have opened I think most ports in the firewall.
  
  Please advise

  Prot 3306 open is sufficient.

  Looks like a problem with the C-API on that specific configuration.
