I'm new to sqlyog, having just seen a reference to it in a book. I've downloaded it and am now trying to install it.

The instructions (for Linux) say: “Run sja with the schema definition file as command line parameter”

I'm probably being very dense here, but where do I find the schema definition? I had a look in the mysql directory and the mysql directory below that. I've got lots of .frm, .MYD and .MYI files, but nothing that looks like a schema. I tried searching the site, but there's nothing resembling documentation other than the forums.

Are you using SJA on Linux or SQLyog on Windows ??

This is a question on which platform you run the client software! The server may run on any platform on which MySQL can run! So you can run SQLyog on windows and connect to to a MySQL server running on Linux without any problems:

      to run it just …

      Quote:
      sja jobfile.xml

      after the system shell prompt.

But what are we talking about ?

      How to execute SJA?

Or how to build a jobfile?

Or is it (still?) an installatation problem?

You won't get precise answers unless you ask precise questions!

But I believe I can figure out now that you want to run the MySQL client SJA on a Linux-machine …
