I am trying to compare the stucture of a remote and local version of the same database (same db name and user) – I open both connections – they show up in the window menu, but don't show up in the left hand panel – they also don't show up in the drop down for the stucture sync tool, so I can't sync them. On the brighter side, this is not a problem in the data sync tool. Please advise.

Please look at attached picture !! That's how it looks like here aftr pressing “compare now”
Each connected database has it's own window – they shall not show up at left at the same window. Did you get that piont ?
Also notice that the structure syncronization tool (only) produces sql to run against the target host.

The problem was that both the username and db name were the same – I logged on locally as a different user and that worked. It would be better if the structure sync tool used the alias (which it doesn't) so that this would not be an issue. Thanks for responding.

not here … attached pic: dbnavne, username and password are all identical. only the names of the host are different.
And it works here …
Mysql-versions: My remote srver is 4.0.16 and localhost is 4.1.8 .

in my case, the host is the same as well because I am using a tunneling setup – both are @localhost even though one is remote. As I said, it works now that I changed the username, but before only one choice showed up on the dropdown list, even though I had both open. Perhaps this is rare, but I would still call it worrth correcting in a future version.
