I am evaluating the free version. It's not clear to me how I can edit specific fields. I need the ability to go directly into a field and edit it in a “text editor” fashion. Most MYSQL front-ends have this. How do i do it?

I thought if I “viewed data” then “show results in text” maybe that was the way, but when I tried to change anything the whole display dissappeared.

I think it should be obvious how to do this, but for me it is not…any help appreciated.

I think I should have read the FAQ:

“…… execute the query using F8. A Grid will come up with the result which you can update. This allows you to edit a Resultset having a complex WHERE clause or JOINS. SQLyog will generate the corresponding Insert/Update script to commit the changes.”

So basically I do an F8 from the SQL query pane and I get a record dispaly I can edit per each field – this the idea?

Again I think this is what many people use front-ends for and it should be more obvious IMHO…I really like SQLyog though!

Currently, F8 is the solution for you.

Starting with v4.1, SQLyog will have an extra tab in the result window where you will be able to directly edit fields.
