It's Not Running

Using Unbuntu 10.04. Followed the instructions. Installed wine (god help me: why would a sane person use anything to do with windows?) which worked, notepad opens fine, then installed SQLyog. Not only does the command line break on the space of the nubie directory SQLyog Trial/ ,just so you know the command line apparently doesn't like spaces, but using the wine menu I get a cursor twirl for about 30 seconds and nothing. The error message I got on the install start up was status c00000005.

2 questions before I crap can this whole idea (thankfully it can be uninstalled without blowing up my whole machine:

1. Why not have a linux version ready to go. Windows??????? Please! Let me think… is mysql a native windows program… no!

2. Is there an easy fix for this? Not going to **** around for another hour playing guess a cure. 26 years in IT and have found that if it doesn't work right with just a little bit of tweaking, them you should run, not walk away from it or suffer the consequences.

This is a bug with Ubuntu 10.04 and not with SQLyog. The workaround is described here: http://www.webyog.com/faq/content/31/184/en/i-am-unable-to-run-sqlyog-in-wine_ubuntu-104-what-should-i-do.html . There is no such problem on Ubuntu before and after 10.04.

Figures. So that rather shoots the wad for SQLyog for me at this time. Not going “old” or jumping into the new problem a week thing with the temp distros.

Really appreciate the response though. Maybe you should add that info to the download list as a heads up. Was jerking around with the machine as is usual for trying to find better tools, and I”m not saying it was SQLyog but definitely was related to trying to install all needed for running SQLyog as a windows app on linux, crashed my machine requiring me to have to strip and redo my development machine. No biggie. Knew what I was in for. I mentioned the windows thing earlier right?

What 'windows thing' are you referring to? We cannot remember everything. Is there a link to another and older post here?
