HI, I am starting to use the mysqlyog eneterprise at work and have no problem connecting to out rpt server. I am new to sql and I wanted to practice at home. I mainly use access for all my data, so i am not sure how to use mysqlyog at home to connect to my tables. I am using the community edition at home atm and i just want to have some mock tables that i use at work to practice on while i learn.

I tried using some freehosting sites like 000webhost.com and was unable to get it to work. If i had all my mock tables in an access database on my pc that is running the mysqlyog software, how do i access my table so i can practice sql sripts.

is there someting i can use or can do to make this happen

      thanks inadvance

You cannot have mysql inside an access database.  But you may simply install a MySQL server on your local system at home. 'a MySQL server' is just a program like any program.

      Start here: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html

.. and if you are uncertain about the questions the installer asks you, just accept defaults.

      Thanks,

that worked great and I am now able to work on my sample tables. That was exactly what I wanted. I am just a little confused about MySQL server 5.1. I installed and had no problem pointing sqlyog to my tables and importing tables to my new server database, but I thought I could run queries using this software also(mySQl server 5.1) or is this just a program to create and maintain servers. Sorry to sound so dumb
