i just installed sqlyog 6.07 enterprise over sqlyog 6.05. when i launched sqlyog, all of my saved connections were gone! that is not what i would have expected or hoped.
i hope this will be changed in future releases. or at least have an option to back up the saved connections to another location before upgrading.
thanks!

Did you upgrade from COMMUNITY to ENTERPRISE?
Did you install to the same folder as before?
1) If no: copy the sqlyog.ini file to the new position
old position: installation folder
new position:
2K/XP/2003: documents and settingsuserapplication datasqlyog
Vista: usersuserappdataroamingsqlyog
2) if yes: a backup of sqlyog.ini is left in installation folder. Copy to new position.

I hope you don't mind me mentioning this Peter, but you seem to be treating all these ini reports as separate isolated instances: I myself have seen two different machines using different OSs upgrading from different versions of Enterprise to 6.06/6.07 fail to copy that ini file more than once (and have told you so in other threads here, such as the word wrap thread). Do you think it might be time to admit that the ini-copy feature is broken? I've never seen it work, either from 6.05 to 6.06 or from v5 Enterprise to 6.06, and had to copy the relevant files myself.

I do not mind!
We have some reports (I guess 6-8) that ini copy has failed.
Except for one (in our ticket system – and a very special one) manual copying has solved this every time as far as we know. Did I miss something?
We also know it has worked on > 20 systems of our own (2K, XP, 2003, Vista, Wine), and several * 1000 users have upgraded since 6.06. And that they would report (even if they do not understand they would report symptoms!).
We have no clue till now why it failed when it did!
Now this copy is a one time thing only needed when upgrading from <= 6.05 to >=6.06.
BTW: I do not understand why it is interesting to discuss if I 'admit' …
And further I think it is bad 'netiquete' to discuss this in another user's thread. In this thread we (you and I) should concentrate on helping this user!

I too had this problem moving from 6.05 to 6.07 but have never seen a problem in the past. The fix suggested works fine.
I wanted to add though that most users affected will probably search the message boards, find the solution and move on. So I wouldn't be surprised if more users are affected that those who get round to sending in a bug report as suggested above.

I too had this problem moving from 6.05 to 6.07 and have never seen this problem in the past.
The suggested fix did not work, I overwrote the newly created ini file with the old ini file from version 6.05 and each time I start SQLyog the ini file is again copied to ini.bak and a new empty one is created.
The only way I could resolve this problem was to remove V6.07 and re-install V6.05

Please answer:
Does the string describing the path “documents and settingsuserapplication datasqlyog” contain anything unusual (accented and other special characers) due to a special user name or localized AppData folder name?

The path is “C:Documents and Settings*****Application DataSQLyog”
where ***** =username(made up of letters, no special characters)

And no accented letters (like ä, é, ñ, ø) in user name either?
Every non-ASCII letter will cause this problem!

No accented letters, no special characters, no numbers, just straight forward name, with first letter in Uppercase.
As I said earlier, this is the first time this has happened, I have been using SQLyog for about 17 months now.
Fantastic program, saved me hours of work.

1)
Could I ask you to try this:
download http://www.webyog.com/forums//index.php?ac…post&id=746
It is a .zip file. just unzip.
A folder with an .exe inside is resulting.
Just doubleclick the .exe
It will build two files in that folder “check.txt” and “log.txt”, and it will attempt to copy “check.txt” to … {AppData}SQLyog folder.
Please attach “log.txt” Generated here.
(if your username is very secret you can create a ticket!).
2)
Also could you try with another user account?

I tried to download the zip file twice, each time I opened it, I got a zip file corrupt message!!!

Winzip gave a corrupt error again
I have managed to open it with winrar, but it just shows a 17k file called CopyToLog with no extension.
I tried to add the .exe extension to it, but that didn't work.
I tried to attach the file to this reply, but I was told I don't have permission, so I changed the extension to .txt and I have uploaded it.

OK .. I thougt I could 'steal/link' an attachment of another post, but seems not to work!
Find it attached here too.
We found out so much that we will need a piece of 'wrapper' code for the API call as the API will only support ANSI and UTF16 strings as file path – not UTF8. This code snippet has been written now, and we are integrating and testing.

I have run the exe file and it has created the 2 files
Chek.txt is an empty file
and the contents of Log.txt are
C:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication Data
Copying file to Appfolder Successful
Copying Contents Successfull
username is my username which contains an UPPERCASE first character and the rest are all lowercase, with no special characters.
